Jc Resumes Services Review from Houston, Texas

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
A few weeks ago I bought an $85 groupon for JC Resumes to do my resume and cover letter. The groupon involved two revisions within one week. The first resume that I received was horrible. I sent in my concerns the same day I received it, and I did not get my first revised draft for another FIVE days. It was emailed to me at 9:30PM the night before my 7 day period was up. The next morning I received another email saying my time was up and all was final. I replied saying that it was completely unacceptable and customer service emailed me back saying they would do my second revision since this was their fault. The same day I sent in my concerns. That was 11 days ago. I have sent in three more emails asking about my final draft and have never received a reply from the company. They basically took my money and ran. Horrible company.

Resume Writer's Experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I briefly worked for the umbrella company under which JC Resumes and a few other resume writing services operate. Management was nice enough, but offered no real training in resume writing other than providing a group of templates and some basic tutorials. The pay per resume (20-30 dollars) was unfair for time spent drafting due to the fact that a good majority of resumes required writers to understand the operations and duties of complex jobs (which would mean you'd waste much of your time doing research) and translate that information into very long, technical resumes (often 4 pages or more). Additionally, client expectation was extremely poorly managed by the company. I had numerous IT and sales clients who gave me horrific messes of resumes (some 5-7 pages long), and expected me to offer them hours of individual attention. Keep in mind, these guys were upper management types, and couldn't for the life of them explain to me in any reasonable terms what they their specific duties/accomplishments for their jobs were. They had a hard enough time writing coherent sentences. These types, not surprisingly, were the most demanding in terms of results, largely due to the fact that they were *** The company did nothing to handle these clients, or set up a more fair way to monetize the extra work required for their resumes. For the time that I wasted on geniuses who graduated with a 3.0 GPA from ITT Tech, I could've been making ten times the money driving for Uber.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My resume was return to me with information I provided. However, the most important part of the resume was to include my masters of nursing, graduating Suma *** Laude. I email Mathew, and he assure me he would make the corrections and send it back to me. It has been several weeks, and I have not heard back from him. I, then got on line and talk to someone else about the matter, and she assure me someone would get back to me. No one has gotten back to me or sent back my resume corrected. Please handle this situation or return my money back.

They promise for 3-day turn around time for the 1st draft of the resume. After 3 days, I didn't receive anything. I have emailed the Support group, and responded to the initial email from the writer. No response. The following day, I talked to Kate via chat on their website to address my situation. I was told that a manager will contact me. Again, no response. It is challenging to communicate with them. Over the chat, which is available on weekdays and during the business hours, or email. I finally managed (Sean) to get someone on the phone and asked for the full refund. An hour has passed since the call, and I have not received any email detailing a way to receive a refund yet.. Wish me luck!

Hello,

We appreciate the opportunity to address the concerns noted. In reviewing the order, both on the phone as well as via chat, we do recognize the delay that occurred in the submission of the initial delivery.

As per our Terms of Service, agreed upon purchase, initial development times can lapse beyond 72 hours if there is a need for added research and development. Our net objective is to ensure that the first draft, which serves as a foundation for subsequent collaborative processes, is as refined and polished as possible - best allowing the client and writer to leverage the revision period.

We absolutely understand the concern with the delay and, as noted during our call, our goal is to offer an immediate solution to rectify the issue. We have issued an email outlining refund instructions and remain available to still offer the full service in an expeditious manner moving forward (should this be selected).

If we can be of further assistance, please reach us at (support@***.com) to help facilitate any further processes.

Thank you again for speaking with us and allowing us this opportunity to offer added feedback. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance!

JC Resumes = Terrible

Tons of typos, bad grammar, incorrect punctuation, inconsistent tenses... We paid for a professional service to create my husband's resume and received something back that looked like a 6th grader, or Borat, wrote it. The sad thing is some people are relying solely on theses services without proofreading or knowing how to correct the mistakes, and are left with a definite pass to the reject applicant pile. I guess there is a reason this service was offered on Groupon. We didn't even send the first draft back for revisions, because after typing the revisions in yourself, what is the point? Even at the "discount" price, this was a complete waste of money.

Unprofessional service and waste of money

There is no sufficient communication, only email back and forth. You have to write everything and point out each errors to them, otherwise, you will have achievements mis-match your positions, sentences doesn't even flow, (assisted ....... opportunities; a $XX budget span; etc.), or made up experiences. They saved my cover letter and resume in different format. I asked if they can save them both in .docx. I got reply that I didn't tell them which format to use. I wished there was a phone number. Tried to reach their chat service. I was told to tell exactly what is wrong to the agent who is helping me. Then, they just ended the chat. How professional!! I can not express how frustrated I was with their service. Don't waste your money!!!

5th grade resume re-write...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased a groupon to have my resume RE-WRITTEN.I am in finance and asked to have my resume built and highlight my finance skills. Not only did it look like my 5th grade son wrote it because the spelling and grammar mistakes were outrageous but there was key points that was not even added from my original resume. I sent back an email with changes and requests. I got back the words that I wrote added on, THAT WAS IT. 2 revisions later I went to the website was promised a phone call from a manager that never happened. I went back to the website was told I would get a call shortly. Never happened. I went back to the website and during my complaint was mysteriously disconnected from the chat... 3 times!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, MONEY PIT

This company is not a resume writing company. They take what you write in your existing resume and reformat it into something that is only slightly different. That is all that they do and pawn it off as a resume service. There is a brief questionnaire that they do not act on. They only take your existing resume and dress it up. I have struggled with them for 2 months and have the same resume that I started with, but with different font and structure. This company should not be in business. I plan to report them to the BBB as well. Stay away!!!

i wish i read the reviews before signing up and paying for this service... my first revision was reformatting and "tightening up" the language of my existing resume which took 7 days...

2nd revision was the same as the 1st version...

and 3 days later, i was given the same version as final... what a waste of money

Not worth the $$

I purchased a Groupon from JC Resumes. They provided a questionnaire and requested a copy of my existing resume. On the questionnaire, I indicated that I wanted my resume re-written for a leadership position, highlighting my on-the-job accomplishments and strategic focus rather than solely job tasks. They completely ignored that instruction, instead just re-wording some of the job tasks on my existing resume and shuffling them around so that line by line, they were longest to shortest in length. I could have done that myself in less than 30 minutes. I was very disappointed with the final product and won't be able to use it in my job search.

Do not waste your money on these "cookie-cutter" resumes. Staff unwilling to help.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Purchased a Groupon for a resume and cover letter for $85 that included two revisions. First version had buzz words that made no sense as to my experience. When I asked for a revision they said the word documents they used are editable and I can change them however I want myself. I said no, the package I purchased comes with actual revisions, please revise it so it makes sense and I can use it. Then all they did was delete the buzz words that I complained about and sent it back as a shorter version WITH a typo. Basically you get a resume and cover letter that looks nice visually but is just a template, and the staff are unwilling and/or incapable to properly revise anything for you.

JC Resumes = Unprofessional

Unprofessional Service! Spent over $300. Ordered resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn Profile update. Cover letter was a string of cliche phrases strung together (see below for sample). Provided specific feedback to author and only top half of cover letter (career details) was fixed. Linkedin profile (cost $80) was delivered a week later (after I had to ask, "where is it?") and all they did was send me an email version of my resume with the special formatting deleted! Resume... They did not speak to me (or provide a comment section when submitting info online) about what I wanted before they started... just took my original resume and reformatted it. Resume and first revision LITERALLY disregarded first 15 years of my career (they charge $60 extra b/c of length of my career). Rewrite delivered was 3 days AFTER PROMISED and was 1/2 finished. I complained to customer service and was sent an email blown off (didn't even ask me about the nature of my complaint). Here's a sample from cover letter (for a counseling position!): "I thrive in challenging and results-oriented environments, and it is these qualities that attract me to a career with an organization such as yours. As a highly motivated, results-driven individual, I have a strong desire to exceed expectations and deliver the effort necessary to achieve position goals." So generic and uses "results-oriented" in two consecutive sentences.

I had a similar bad experience recently with JC Resume service. There doesn't seem to be a organized forum for complaining about this company.

Wasted Money

I had a groupon for JC Resumes. Although it only cost $85, the service was a waste of money. They did not ask any questions but just took my existing resume and shortened it up and changed a few words. It had many grammatical errors and some sentences had the word "successful" in it multiple times. The problem with the process is they don't really care about making the resume better or interesting, but instead just want it to be formatted better. If you need a formatting job done on your resume, perhaps you want to consider JC Resume service. I considered it a waste of money and a complete disappointment. I sent an email to their service suggesting that if they wanted to help write my resume better, then I would re-consider my opinion of them. They sent back some nonsense saying what words do I want to use to make my resume better. What? If I was a resume author, I would know those words. That is their job isn't it?

Not very high quality resume revision, worst deal on resume posting service

Very basic revisions. For $85 you do not get to talk to anyone, you do everything over email. They shorten up your resume and make it look nice, but the content is not what I expected. I guess you can't have high expectations when everything is via email. Probably the most annoying thing is money spent for them to post your resume on a bunch of websites. Do not expect anything other than junk emails and solicitation phone calls. FYI I am an experienced professional, not a recent graduate. My resume was strong before they edited it. I am shocked at how little this service helped me with my job search.
